"Black Metal has traditionally been a genre that s "Black Metal has traditionally been a genre that strives to epitomise evil - upside-down crosses, fuck me Jesus, tanks and war used to titillate and shock and in some corners the use of Nazi imagery and neo-fascist ideology. To use the medium to spotlight the plight of refugees, workers, the environment and the downtrodden is truly radical. Grindcore or punk of course but Black Metal? Are you mad?"

Vic Galloway's review of Pictish Trail – Island Vic Galloway's review of Pictish Trail – Island Family (Fire Records)
“You’ve got to move to London”... is what most musicians living outside the capital hear on a daily basis. Sound advice no doubt, if you wanna make it MAAAAN! Take Johnny Lynch then - Lost Map label boss, festival promoter and bearded, psychedelic song-mangler known to most as the Pictish Trail. He lives and runs his affairs from a Hebridean outpost, the Isle of Eigg and does very well thank you very much. On account of his constant inspiration and dedicated work ethic, nothing is going to hold him down and on this fifth album proper, he ups the ante as he contemplates the wonders of nature, his island home and impending human disaster. Noise and distortion are the key differences on this record, but his melodic suss stays intact. Euphoric vocal top-lines collide with fuzz bass, synth fluttering, wonky arpeggios and crunching beats. Think Flaming Lips, Grandaddy and early Beck as reference points, but increasingly Lynch sails
further into the distance on his own, as recent singles ‘It Came Back’ and ‘Natural Successor’ prove. Maybe it’s time to take a trip and join the family?"

Mato Enki’s work aims to look at how the mobilit Mato Enki’s work aims to look at how the mobility of goods, specifically consumerism and dependency, make us complicit and immune to injustice, exploitation and further mythologies surrounding migration. How systems within consumer and ‘Big Tech’ business aim to dilute our sense of identity via subliminal coercion and algorithmic manipulation; how our very senses are being diluted along with the sense of ourselves. How our link with nature is being wilfully disassembled.
